Colonel Rocky is planning something

Hello my friends. Colonel Rocky is still with us and he seems to have been quite preoccupied this week....I think he must be planning something...something hush-hush, on the QT and only for those in the know....

....Colonel Rocky likes to keep a low profile at all times....why let the enemy know where you are if you don't have to....using natural cover and available obstacles...

He was keen to give Miss Lola some lessons in the fine art of camouflage....

....but he thinks a few more practice sessions might be necessary...

...he was extremely vigilant at the perimeter of Border Terrier HQ...

...and he posted Lola as sentry in the tower....

....he engaged in some serious tracking of potential intruders...

...and had to think very hard when calculating all the necessary contingencies for future invasions....

....very hard indeed....

....he took some time out to deliver a motivational speech to the troops....

....Miss Lola tried to follow along.....

"I do look likes I be no fret all da way over ere"...#RockySpeaks

..."But I haz ways of sneekin up on yoo"...#RockySpeaks

....he gave the typist lessons in the proper provisioning of an army on the march....

...and the necessity of comfy quarters for hardworking troops...

...he allowed me to follow along on the exercises on Sunday....

...and asked me to navigate.....

....which was hard to do whilst on the move...."Wait for me!!"....

"Urry up my lad. Iz no time to looze"....#RockySpeaks

..."its a bit jungly this way Colonel. Lets try the fields...."

...better territory for free-roaming terrier commandos...

...enemy swan....best go round the other way....

....we came into sight of the Ockley Windmill....a potential nest of spies....

"Haz to fink wot paff to take"...#RockySpeaks....

"takin this wun....keep up at da bak"... #RockySpeaks

...we came across large flocks of enemy sheep....and sneaked past....

...Bridge Over the River Wey.....

...we paused to remember fallen comrades...poor Brandy, sister to @lucylooBT, passed OTRB this weekend and the Border Terrier HQ troops leave no fur behind....

...what have the Romans ever done for terriers?....

...Colonel Rocky was in charge of the first skirmishes....

...but they turned out to be terrier-friendly sheep....

....eventually Colonel Rocky lead his troops to the safety at the Inn on the Green at Ockley...(thanks to Intelligence Officer Milly at @doggiepubs)..."allow me to count chips furst...."

...and before night fell we were safely back in barracks and Surrey was again safe for terrier-kind...
We are so glad to have Colonel Rocky with us...he's keeping us safe.

Colonel Rocky, Commanding Officer

Hello my friends. As some of you know, we lost our dear beloved Marley last year and we have been a house of one terrier since then. This week we became a house of two terriers again! Marley and Lola's daddy has been to stay for a short holiday. His name is Rocky...

...Miss Lola was enjoying a quiet day at home when the bell rang.....runrun....

...its Miss Islay and Mr Rocky come to see us...hurray!

Miss Islay (@issiebissy) is Lola's sister....and she has a few things to add to the family dynamic...

...when she had gone we took Mr Rocky for his first walk....he was not too sure about what to do or where to go or who all these people were....

....he was a bit camera shy and who can blame him....

....he gave the Typist his full "back off mister" face.....

.....and who can blame him as there was an awful lot of peemail to check in the back garden....getting to know the foxes and the cats....

...Miss Lola tried to show him what terriers are all about at Border Terrier HQ....

...and Mr Rocky was soon willing to try a few of these new things....

....and even to show Lola a few style tips of his own.....showing he knows a thing or two about being a terrier

....and actually set a new house record for distance from the log stove....

....we wondered if he might be a bit blue and missing his family....

.....but he was soon in full terrier mode and taking on Headley Heath with his beard and eyebrows.....we have nicknamed him the Colonel as he has such a military bearing....

.....poor Miss Lola had to run to keep up....he's very sprightly for a 9-year old....

....and he had the Typist firmly under control....and was soon tweeting to his friends....

....running the hosuehold from his bed just like Marley used to do.....

....by the end of Day 2 he had taken over the beanbag from Miss Lola....

...T'ennnnnHUT...Colonel on duty......

....he's adept at finding a sun puddle and keeping typist busy at the same time.....

....and has been more than good company for Miss Lola....

...T is for Terrier....

.....he's making the most of the end of summer and letting no puddle go un-investigated for warmth......

...he even showed Miss Lola how to find the last of the warmth from the oven....

....and he's become quite the life and soul of the party..."and so the barman said "Why the long face?"...wahahahahahah"

......i tried some of Typist's jokes on him....they did not gone down quite so well....
.....i havent dared ask him what this was about but I did whisper that Marley used to enjoy lying on the Typist if he could get him to sit still....

.....maybe not quite so close Colonel....

....see...it can be quite comfy!....

....I believe he may be feeling quite at home now....

...and best of all he and Miss Lola are now firm friends.....it's the magic of one little terrier...!
