Kefalonia Part 2...

Hello my friends....I hope you liked my holiday snaps from yesterday. I am bringing you part 2 now....

..we decided to hire a car so that we could visit some other parts of the island...it was a tiny Daihatsu with a tiny engine that went everywhere in 2nd gear....Kefalonia is made up of uphill and downhill....there are no flat bits....typist was scheming about cycling holidays there for future years...

....we visited the port at Sammi to look at the boats....

....can you see the zoomy military looking one above my head?....that looked very fast....

....we had the obligatory frappe as part of our consumer-testing programme for coffee on the island....

.....we went to a beach...and I got to play with a puppy....but he was a a bit flea-bitten and ran off when we tried to take his picture...

....I tried to show William the view.....

....oh dear...I think i made the locals angry...they are making me walk the plank...!

..after the lake we ent to a funny cave which used to be underground until the roof fell in....

....it's all watery down there and you have to explore by boat......

.....there were olives for lunch....

...and afterwards we visited another cave....it looked a long way down.....

....it was a pretty spooky place.....

Ha ha....who turned the lights off?

...the next day we got the ferry to Lixori....

.....I quite enjoyed my trip...it was very peaceful in the early morning.....

....and you can see my little films of the journey HERE...and we even got to watch the sister ferry going back the other way HERE...

....all that ferrying was thirsty work...so we had to stop to recharge our batteries....

....we finished every day down on our little beach enjoying the last of the sun....

.....or did some more serious sun-bathing if time allowed....

.....another day we got another Daihatsu....it was just the same as the first one except that it was white...

....nad drove some scray cliff-top roads out to get a look at Myrtos beach.....

....and the pretty town of Assos.....

....i liked wandering there....

....and we drove right to the far end of the island to visit Fiskardo....but we forgot to take any photos!

.....we tried to drive to a castle near to the hotel.....

....but when we got there it was all locked up....

Mr Cat said it was only open on Wednesdays.....

....so we stopped for Frappe....

....I suggested a chnage of pace to the typist but he said it was not safe to ride in shorts and sandals....

....we watched the sun go down from our balcony every evening....

.....but in the morning it was sunny and blue skies....

...William took refuge in the cool of the sea....he fed bread to the fish....

.....our room was in that line of bungalows above the pool.....

....er ...is there time for one last frappe before we have to go home...?

...although we had a great holiday, it was nice to get back to Gatwick....

...and to rescue Miss Lola from the farm...she was not best pleased to have to have a bath as soon as she got home!

....woof.  I highly recommend Kefalonia!
