A snowy day

I have been very excited since last night because the weather-man on the television said that there was to be snow today....

...i looked outside at 8 o'clock...but there was only a tiny smattering of snow and it was coming from the sky very slooooowly....

.....i decided to be brave and go outside to see if it was as cold as everyone says.....brrrrr.....it was.....

...Miss Lola was having none of it and she curled up by the radiator and tried to ignore the forecast....

....but i found out that if you are patient that you will be rewarded....

...Miss Lola managed to make it out of the door but she was far from happy....

....and was soon asking to be let back in.....

....i refused to be deterred....how do you like my Clap-gloo?.....

...I am going out...I may be some time....

....i thought it might be best to get up high to see useful landmarks....and the Christmas tree that we STILL haven't thrown away came in very handy....

...of course, it is not all just fun in the snow....we had to think about our birdies....so we took a bowl of Cheerios out for them.....

....even Miss Lola came to see what was going on.....something to do with the food you think?

....its was somewhat difficult to tell if she was enjoying it or not....

...we had some nutritious fat balls with mealworms for the birds too....

...i tried to absail in to hang this one....but it was quite wobbly....

....so I shimmied along a branch.....

.....and found a way down using my paws.....

....*sigh*...

We hope all our friends in the UK are safe and warm...wooof.....Clapton, Border Terrier HQ

Business Terrier

This week I got the chance to go on a business trip with the typist....i think he has a lot of fun going to new countries and travelling by airplanes.....

...we were at Heathrow, terminal 5 early in the morning.....I wonder what gate we need to go to? Do we have time to buy a newspaper?.....

...is that our plane? It looks tiny to me...is it big enough to fly to the Netherlands?....we did not take any pictures on the plane because the typist is a superstitious ponce person...so, the next you see of our trip is....*drum roll*...

*skip...skip...* Schipol!!....a 15 minute walk from plane to exit....*sigh*

...we caught a train from the airport to another town...and visited  a factory...here i am doing quality control on some products....a bit technical for me and not very interesting to sniff....

...now here I am on the train back to Amsterdam.....what time is it? Did we miss lunch?.....very comfy considering we were travelling second class....

...but it was raining SO HARD when we got to town that the only thing we could photo in the dark was a bike! Very Dutch.....

...i was so tired after a hard day in meetings and touring production facilities that I have to confess that I lay down for a nap and missed dinner!!....typist had a bowl of pasta and watched TV for half an hour before...ZZZZZ

...and I was only seen again in time for breakfast.....somewhere on that train we lost an hour too...has anyone seen it? It's very early here in Europe....

...back to the train station......but no sign of our train to Brussels.....

...better check the timetable....

....here's a train...but its not our one...we need the red and pink HighSpeed train....

....this is more like it....velvet seats in First Class!!...and WiFi.......

....very comfy...but what can we do?....*watches Rotterdam, and Antwerp speed past through the window*....

...there was nothing for it but to read the paper and have breakfast again at the proper time.....

...will we have time to see something in Brussels?...er....no....rushing through the station, grabbing a magazine....

...we are on the Eurostar back to London...typist claims it goes under the ocean but I don't think I believe him.....

.....Time Zone Terrier enjoys another nap......*Lille speeds past the window*....

....back at the office in London and look who was there to greet us!....I told him all about three countries in 24 hours..planes, trains and taxis....eating on the run....clocks changing the time.....oh dear....these business trips are no fun at all....I don't think I will do another one....

To see Grandma

Hello everyone....*waves*...it's me again, Clapton your roving repawter....see what I did there?

I found myself in the back of the car last Friday morning keeping watch over Lola...we are off to Grandma's house for a late Christmas family get-together....up the motorway we go....

...on the first afternoon we went to the big reservoir where Marley used to like to go walking....we checked for peemail from @ernietheborder and @eddietheborder and @3_legtommy but we could not find any....

....but cousing Lily came along....look at her go.....she's amazingly fast for a little dog with short legs....but it was muddy and when she got home typist had to give her a bath...Lily isn't talking to him anymore....

...LOla did not get a minute's rest because of the pesky fast-moving red carpet dot....she chased it for hours but never seemed to quite catch up with it....we suspect William had something to do with this but we can't prove it....yet....

...poor Lola qas quite worn out by it all....and on Saturday she could not be roused from the warm spot on the under-floor heating at Grandma's her bed

....William  tried to tell me there are Lions in Derbyshire......but I don't believe him.....

...in any case, we had a mission for Saturday and I got wrapped up in my new Christmas scarf....a bit too Dr Who do you think?

....and we prepared to go exploring......

...here I am in Bakewell outside the world famous Bakewell Pudding shop...Bloomers....

...and choosing my pudding carefully....they are very yummy indeed....

....and then off to Brocklehursts to choose some new wellies for the Typist....William has grown into his old pair....BOL....

....and we paid a quick visit to the Rohan shop in honour of our pal @rohanthe BT ...and the ladies in the shop remembered his visit....and I hope they remember ours....

...we paid a visit to the Monsal Head....where we had lunch....ahem....

....and a nice cool drink....

.....but you come to Monsal Dale for the views really....an amazing "seenik" as my friend Shawnee would say....

....there is a big tunnel under the hills there where a railway used to run but it's now used by walkers and cyclists.....its a bit scary....oooooh....WAIT FOR ME......

....i said WAIT FOR ME......

....at least Lola is waiting....shortly before running into a garden to harass the bunny

....I am Heathcliff Terrier......

Oh....Lily....you are all muddy again....but this time your family are here and they will have to take bath duties.....

I like Derbyshire very much....*Baaaaa*....but I dont really speak the language....

...even if I am Farmer Clapton.....

....all that walking and running with Lily has quite exhausted poor Lola.....

*sigh*.....back to Surrey....
